Story of our restaurant

Our story is one of passion, community, and the belief that food is a journey that transcends borders.

Founded by Mike Dayo, a chef and nutritionist from Nigeria with 17 years of experience. set out to introduce the rich tapestry of West African flavors to the culinary landscape of Slovenia. His dream was to create a space where the communal traditions of African dining could flourish, where every meal served would be a celebration of life’s simple pleasures.

Baobab began as a mobile beacon of culture, a culinary truck at the market in Kosice where Mike’s authentic dishes—fried yams, fufu, egusi soup, and more—captivated the hearts and palates of those who ventured a taste. It was here that the foundations of Baobab were laid, rooted in the philosophy that good food is akin to medicine, nourishing both body and soul.

As word of Mike’s delectable creations spread, so too did the desire for a permanent home for Baobab. It is with great pride that we have now established our restaurant in the vibrant Ledina Center, at Kotnikova 5, 1000 Ljubljana. This new chapter allows us to welcome guests into a world where the warmth of African hospitality meets the culinary excellence of our kitchen.
